I’m thrilled to announce a powerful new feature coming to the next version of STE — the Real-Time Flood Inundation Mapper — along with an advanced post-processing module that delivers more than just flood depth maps.
🔧 Using novel and computationally efficient 1D/2D methods, the Real-Time Inundation Mapper creates flood inundation maps in under 30 seconds, enabling real-time situational awareness for floods.
But we’re not stopping there…
⚙️ A dedicated post-processor is being developed to accompany this tool — capable of producing:
✅ Velocity maps
✅ Flow direction maps
✅ Sediment transport rate maps
✅ …and more
All in real-time.
This makes STE not just a simulation engine — but a true real-time flood analytics platform.
👀 Swipe to see the difference:

High-Resolution Simulation
Flood depth map near Memphis, modeled using STE’s 2D SWE-LIA Fast CPU Solver on 30-meter cells with subgrid variability enabled across a 55 km river segment.
🕒 Simulation Time: 15 minutes on Intel Core i7 14700KF
🎯 Ideal for detailed planning and design.

⚡ Designed for emergency response and rapid scenario assessments — now with post-processing capabilities on the way.
With this advancement, STE empowers:
• Emergency managers
• Engineers
• Planners
• Researchers
…
to make fast, informed, and spatially detailed decisions — exactly when they matter most.
