One of the most important features of the STE software is its database, which is powered by the robust Microsoft Access. This capability allows users to retrieve all the data they have entered and calculated in the software at any time, simply by using the .accdb file saved by STE. Users can access this data either directly through the STE software or via Microsoft Access. This feature enables users to quickly access previous research results with just a few clicks, modify them, recalculate, and derive better conclusions for future studies.
In the STE software, two processes are provided for creating, loading, and modifying project files:
- Step-by-Step Process (Guided Mode)
- In this mode, the project is completed with the assistance and guidance of the software.

- Quick Access Process
- In this mode, the user has direct access to all stages of project completion.

On the main page of the STE software, users can choose from four options:

- Create New Project Using Project Creator Wizard
- This option allows users to create a new project file. The project completion process is guided step-by-step with software assistance.
- (In the hydraulics section, access to the method accuracy enhancement feature is not available.)
- Modify Project Using Project Creator Wizard
- This option allows users to load and modify an existing project file. The project completion process is guided step-by-step with software assistance.
- (In the hydraulics section, access to the method accuracy enhancement feature is not available.)
- Load Project
- This option allows users to load an existing project file and provides quick access to all project stages, including the method accuracy enhancement feature in the hydraulics section.
- Blank Project File
- This option allows users to create a new project file. If the prerequisites are met, it provides quick access to all project stages, including the method accuracy enhancement feature in the hydraulics section.
